The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme
Being affiliated to the Kennel Club we have provided a platform for owners to take the Good Citizens Awards. The
Vale was granted listed status in July 2001 and we have enjoyed running the scheme at our training hall. These
evenings are for dogs and their owners who may have completed a puppy or pet dog obedience course and would like
to go on to higher things, and start working towards obtaining these prestigious awards.
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme (KC GCDS) is open to anyone (pedigree dogs, cross-breeds and mutts) It
is non competitive. This scheme is helping to promote socially acceptable dogs and responsible owners, which is
something that is becoming so very important in these days of dog ownership.
We offer the following training (and examination) in:
" Puppy Foundation
On achieving these awards dog and owner will receive a Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Certificate and a
superb rosette to take home to show off to friends! (Rosettes and certificates are awarded at each stage. These are to
reward our smart owners with great dogs that have now started to learn good manners both at home and outside in
the wider community.
At no time do we at The Vale Dog Training put our dogs and owners under pressure to participate in this scheme. It is
voluntary and is, I promise, great fun. It should be an enjoyable experience for both you and your dog. It is
inexpensive as we only charge a nominal fee that covers the administration costs.
